Russian Foreign Ministry Hacked

On 29 June more than 100 officials at the Russian Foreign Ministry were subjected to a “pfishing” expedition using a compromised account from the Russian embassy in Iran with an IP address from Hungary. The message directed recipients to respond to a fake address that replicated a form of authorisation used within the Foreign Ministry. As a result a large number of email addresses were compromised. It has taken two weeks to clear up the mess. (Komsomolskaya Pravda, 14 July 2017)
